We have launched our “Building to Serve!” Capital Campaign

On October 1st, political and community leaders gathered at the home of Amy Haines and Richard Marks to support the launch of the American Legion Post #77 “Building to Serve!” capital campaign. For over 60 years, our current home has adequately served the veterans and the community of Easton.  However, as the building has aged, it has become more expensive to operate and maintain, and the expanding purpose has outgrown the space.

Post #77 has been an integral force in supporting veterans needs from navigating the benefits process to assisting in locating affordable housing, and providing community organizations with programming that help youth and families.  In preparation of our 100th anniversary celebration in 2020, we are expanding our support to our stakeholders which will necessitate changes to the design of the building. The “Building to Serve!” campaign will renovate, expand and modernize the Glenwood Avenue space.

Our new design will provide local citizens with a venue that will host community wellness programs, entertainment and banquet facilities, and veteran’s services. The extensive renovation will cost $900,000 and take approximately one year to complete. Funding will come from grants, private donations and our “Building to Serve!” campaign that is expected to raise $300,000.
